Project PartnersThe City Wakes project would not be possible without the support and contribution of Escape Artists’ partners. Sincere thanks go to all the individuals and organisations featured on this page.Rosemary Breen - The Syd Barrett Trust
Syd’s sister, Rosemary Breen, has generously supported The City Wakes workshops since they began in early 2007. She is now working with UK registered charity Escape Artists to establish The Syd Barrett Trust in support of arts in mental health.
The Cambridge Resource Centre
Escape Artists has been running music workshops at Cambridge Resource Centre for many years and clients from the Centre form a core part of The City Wakes project – they are strongly involved in the creative development process for The City Wakes concert performances and will be part of the cast for the concerts. All the clients are currently working towards an OCN Level 2 Certificate in Music Technology with Escape Artists. Since March 2007, the Resource Centre has also provided Escape Artists with a base in Cambridge. Since July 2007, it has generously seconded a member of its staff, Paul Herrington, to work on The City Wakes project. Paul’s involvement in The City Wakes workshops, in a support and outreach capacity, is invaluable. Photos from the Cambridge Resource Centre workshops
CAMEO
Since August 2007, clients from CAMEO - an early intervention partnership project involving Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust , The University of Cambridge, The Stanley Medical Research Institute and GlaxoSmithKline – have become strongly involved in The City Wakes. As with clients from Cambridge Resource Centre, they are closely involved in the creative development process for The City Wakes concert performances. Many CAMEO clients are now following Escape Artists OCN Music Technology course.
Centre at St Paul's
The City Wakes workshops have, since their inception, taken place at The Centre at St Paul’s – the venue which will also host many of The City Wakes events in October. Escape Artists has been working at the Centre since 2003 and, from the very start, the Centre has supported Escape Artists by making significant in-kind donations to its work. The Centre has proved an ideal location for the workshops, not least because of the tireless work and support of John Quysner, the Centre Manager. Here are some photographs of the workshops on the Centre at St Paul's website:
Cambridge Regional College
In October 2007 Escape Artists entered into a partnership with Cambridge Regional College. This partnership supports Escape Artists in the delivery of its OCN accredited music courses and has allowed all participants in The City Wakes the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications in a wide variety of skills. A primary objective of The City Wakes is to bring high quality, stimulating arts education services to those who rarely get the opportunity to involve themselves in such activities. Thanks to the partnership with Cambridge Regional College, we are now able to significantly improve both the reach and the continuity of our services in these areas.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust
In early 2008, Escape Artists received a substantial grant from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust – an event which ensured the continued delivery of The City Wakes workshops. Cambridge Resource Centre is part of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, and thanks are therefore also due to the Trust for allowing the secondment of Paul Herrington to The City Wakes project.

In Summer 2007, West Road Concert Hall generously donated space in their rehearsal studios for a number of The City Wakes workshops.
Cambridge University - Festival of Ideas
In October 2008, The University of Cambridge will hold its first Festival of Ideas – a celebration of the arts, humanities and social sciences - in venues throughout the City of Cambridge. Escape Artists is delighted to have been asked to present The City Wakes at the Festival of Ideas. For more information about the Festival please see www.cambridgefestivalofideas.org
